Jim Simon has been chosen for the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award in recognition of his innovative work in the field of radiopharmaceuticals. His work on Sm-153- and Ho-166- based bone cancer and bone marrow ablation agents promises relief for many from the debilitating effects of cancer. The novel methods he developed to help move the products of clients companies to fruition, including radiopharmaceuticals based on Ac-225, Sn-117m, In-111, Tc-99m, Lu-177, Y-90, Sr-89, I-125, I-131 and Zr-89 are noteworthy.
Jim's research is aligned with the aCS mission to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people.
Jim and his accomplishments will be celebrated at the Brazosport ACS Local Section Award Banquet.

Please join us in congratulating Brandon Fails of the Dow Chemical Company, on being awarded the Technician of the Year Award! Brandon was nominated for his technical experience, commitment to continuous improvement, coaching of new employees, dedication and personal sacrifice.
Brandon is the Technical Advisor at the North American Performance Plastics Pilot Plants for The Dow Chemical Company. In this role, he is responsible for supporting 5 pilot plants; working with process technicians and run plant engineers in the areas of troubleshooting, plant operation improvement, equipment design, process safety and new technology development projects. Brandon started in the Pilot Plants in 2000 as a Process Technician operating 3 pilot plants before taking on the Process Control Coordinator Role and then the Technical Advisor Role in 2007. Prior to moving into the Polyethylene R&D Group at Dow, Brandon held various roles as a process or lab technician for Lyondell, DuPont Dow Elastomers & The Dow Chemical Company. As a lab technician he performed lab tests as well as developed test methods in chromatography, spectroscopy & physical testing. Brandon received his AAS in Process Technology from Brazosport College in 1998.
